I'm packing my suitcase...

When I was little we used to play a game in the car on long road trips. It was called "I'm packing my suitcase..." We would go through the alphabet naming things we packed in our suitcase, and you had to remember what everyone has previously said. It might look like, "I'm packing my suitcase and in it I put an apple, a bear, some cookies, dog treats..." and so on. So now I have started packing, and I wish I had that magic suitcase from the game!

Summer is here and so I have more time on my hands. I spend my days alternating between the couch (morning sickness), cleaning, swim lessons, and packing. So far I have packed like 5 boxes, but it's better than nothing! Here is a box packed in the office and a clear bookcase.

We are very fortunate for a couple of reasons. We are renting our house to someone we know, and have a ton of attic space, so instead of moving stuff to storage, we can store it in the attic. This makes packing a lot easier. Last Sat. Shawn and I pulled everything out of the attics and sorted through it. I think we filled our trash bin completely for the first time since we moved into our house. We started a huge yard sale pile and began to organize stuff back into the attic.
Here is the organized attic for storage:

We also have a shed next to our house where we will store some special furniture and the school stuff I kept. Speaking of which, the last day of school came and went. I saved some things I thought I would use when I return, but ended up giving away and leaving a ton of stuff. I can't believe I fit 6 years of teaching into boxes that fit into my Mazda 3 hatchback! I was surprised how emotional I got saying goodbye to the school family. I blame the hormones, but there were a lot of good people and memories there.

I have not begun to pack any bags for travel. I did buy a new bag and received a travel neck pillow from a student. Here they are, unopened.

I also did buy my first clothing piece. I found this at Goodwill!

Besides that I have started a pile of things I want to bring, like photos, books, and even a few special things for baby... but have yet to try to fit any of it into the suitcases. Oh well.

Today we had a 90 min. Webinar. Here are the dogs keeping me company as I attend.

It was very informative. All I know as of right now is that I may leave between August 8-12. I might not find out until 3 days before hand... so I'll just be ready! They provided information on housing, culture, and teaching. I am still super excited, but have the normal cold feet...especially since I am now going over pregnant. I know God has a plan for me... and I have to trust that plan. I hope to see everyone at our going away party in July. I am super excited about it and seeing a lot of good friends and family.

I will leave you with the new phrase to live by... Inshallah: if Allah wishes. As in... things will happen when they happen. So... the packing will continue and I'll leave when I leave. Until then... it's summer. :)
